Bio/Description

Kristin S. Appelget is Assistant Vice President - Community and Regional Affairs at Princeton University. She was Director of Community and Regional Affairs from May, 2006 to February, 2022 when she became Assistant Vice President.  She oversees and strengthens the University’s relationships with the municipalities and counties in which the University resides and works extensively on municipal and regional issues related to transportation, sustainability, economic development, land use, planning and zoning.

Prior to joining Princeton University, Kristin was President and CEO of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce.  In this position, she built and facilitated collaboration in the regional business community, and promoted business growth and economic development throughout the Princeton area. 

From 1999 to 2006 Kristin served as an elected member of the West Windsor Township Council, where she was influential in the preservation of open space and the creation of recreation opportunities throughout the Township.  As a member of Council she served in leadership positions as the Vice-President and President of the Council. 

Kristin currently serves as a volunteer member of the board of the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Princeton Business Partnership.

Kristin attended the University of Notre Dame where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a concentration in the Hesburgh Program in Public Policy. She was a member of the women’s crew team as an undergraduate.

Kristin is a past recipient of the “Forty Under Forty” award from NJBIZ, was recognized by the Princeton YWCA with their Tribute to Women Award, served as honorary chair of the annual Womanspace Communities of Light initiative, and was inducted as a member of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South Hall of Honor. She has been recognized at Princeton University with a Special Performance Recognition Award and the Friend of Facilities Award.

Fun Fact: I am a novice bridge player and my favorite time of day is 5:30 am on Lake Mercer with my rowing team.
